← Back to the duck

A small duck, built in the open.

Camera privacy

The homepage does not start the camera. The separate AR page requests camera access as soon as it opens, either from its QR card or the “Meet the duck in AR” link. Camera access requires your browser permission. Some browsers may also require a “Start camera” tap. Image recognition and rendering run on your device. This application does not record, upload, or store camera frames. It has no application analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. The hosting provider receives ordinary web requests and may retain standard delivery/security logs. Returning “Home” stops the camera.

Open-source software

Duck model

Duck / COLLADA duck, © 2006 Sony, from the Khronos glTF Sample Assets collection. Distributed under the SCEA Shared Source License 1.0. The GLB is unmodified; runtime display scales, rotates, and adjusts material roughness. The separate transparent collar and lettering are added by this application.

Original artwork

The collar, lettering, QR-card layout and symbols, and favicon were created for this demo. The flat cartoon duck on the QR card is an original vector illustration. The 3D duck in the interactive preview and AR experience uses the Sony/Khronos model credited above. No stock image or web font is required.

Scale & tracking

The duck is calibrated to 30 mm high when the entire card is printed 80 mm wide. Resizing the card changes the apparent physical size. Keep the complete card visible: this experience follows a visible image target and hides the duck when tracking is lost. Screen reflections, glare, blur, and low light affect tracking. Safari and Chrome on physical phones still require device testing.
